POLOKWANE – The principal of Laerskool Ivypark, Willem Opperman said he is happy to have assisted Leane Botha, a teacher at Tom Naudé High School with fishing skills during a competition held at Alpha Sand dam on February 24.
Botha was announced as the best fisherwoman on the day and walked away with R1 500 cash prize after catching a bass and carp and releasing it back into the dam.
“I want to thank Mr Opperman for his useful tips on fishing and on what I needed to know as a fisherwoman. I value his knowledge in fishing a lot,” Botha said.
Opperman said he was happy to have assisted Botha.
“It was a catch-and-release competition and she did well. I am happy to have assisted her. I would love to see more people try their hand at fishing because it teaches one patience and provides a relaxed ambiance. This is the biggest sport in the country and I would like to see more learners taking part and reaching their Springbok colours.”
