Between the new festivals, the new farm, and turtles as pets, Stardew Valley is better than ever.

Stardew Valley: 10 Best Fruit And Mushrooms For The Dehydrator
There is money to be made with the dehydrator, and here are the best fruits and mushrooms for this in Stardew Valley!
The 1.6 update is bigger than anyone expected. There are a lot of challenges and things to do to excel in the game. It can be a bit difficult trying to navigate all the new changes, what they mean, and how to use them. Below are some tips for playing that will hopefully help you navigate through the Stardew Valley Update and beat the game.
9 Use, Eat, and Store Jelly
Jelly is a fantastic new part of the game. You can find jelly by fishing in the Ocean, Rivers, and Caves. You can find Sea Jelly on Ginger Island or in the Ocean, River Jelly in the Rivers, and Cave Jelly by fishing in the mines.
These different types of jelly can be used for a variety of things! If you eat them, you’ll get a bonuses. You can save them up to create the Fish Smoker, or you can simply sell them.
8 Gather Moss For Crafting
Moss is a new item in Stardew Valley. It can be found on trees, both in the Cindersap forest and on your farm. You can cut down the tree and collect the moss that way, or you can simply cut the moss off of the tree. You can also collect moss during the new summer event: the green rain.

Everything Included In The Stardew Valley 1.6 Update
Here’s what you’ll find in the new Stardew Valley 1.6 update.
Once you have the moss, there are multiple uses. You can use it to craft items such as the mushroom log or deluxe worm bin. You can cook with it to create moss soup, which requires twenty moss.
You will have an opportunity to buy broccoli seeds with moss later in the game.
7 Taking Advantage Of The Green Rain Event
The green rain event takes place on a random day in the summer. You’ll be able to tell because, well, it’s raining green rain. A lot of things can happen during this event. You’ll find giant curly green trees, which can give you mossy seeds. Plant these, and a mossy tree will grow. Moss and Fiddlehead Ferns will also be more available, so take your scythe, run around, and get as much as you can!
A lot of the NPCs will curl up in the tavern during green rain, so you can head over there and give them gifts to help boost your friendship levels.
6 Pay Attention To The Help Wanted Board
The help wanted board is fantastic for when you’re at the beginning of the game. In the 1.6 update, there are a lot of new rewards. You can also get prize tickets from the help wanted board.
You can take these prize tickets to the prize machine in Mayor Lewis’ house. You can earn really cool prizes, including different kinds of seeds, a fish smoker, and mystery boxes.
5 Invest Time In The Big Tree
The big tree is located in the Cindersap forest. At first, you can’t do anything with the tree. However, you will eventually be told that there was a strong windstorm. From there, you can head to the tree, which has now fallen and has been replaced by a simple tree stump. Interacting with this unlocks the Giant Tree Stump Quest.

Stardew Valley: Everything You Need To Know About The Meadowlands Farm
The Meadowlands Farm is a unique, animal-focused farm type in Stardew Valley. Here, you can learn all there is to know about it.
The quest involves giving the tree 100 hardwood. This builds a house, and then shortly after you’ll have a new neighbor that you can interact with, and who will sell you seeds and other goodies.
4 Mine To Get A New Weapon
One of the coolest new weapons is the Meowmere sword. First, you have to find yourself an Ancient Doll. This is a somewhat rare item, but you can find it through treasure tests and artifact spots. Then, you have to make it to level 100 of the mines. This may take time, but it’s well worth it!
Go to the 100th level of the mine and throw the sword into the lava. This will give you a jewel. You then take that jewel to the wizard’s castle. Place the stone on the Perraria Tylon, and the sword is yours!
3 Focus On Fishing
A lot of the changes in the 1.6 update surround fishing. Not only are there fishing jellies, but there are two festivals that focus on fishing. The first is the Trout Derby, which takes place on the 20th and 21st of Summer. In this festival, you can catch trout all day and even get golden tags! The second festival is Squidfest, which takes place on the 12th and 13th of Winter. During this festival, squids can be exchanged for prizes. Lastly, there’s a fish smoker, which doubles the price of any fish by creating a smoked fish.

Stardew Valley: Every Fish And Where To Find It
Here’s our complete guide for every fish in Stardew Valley, with how and where you can catch them.
Since the update has a lot to do with fishing, you should work to get your fishing skills up as soon as possible. Invest in better rods, and make and buy bait so that you become a master, and make a fish smoker as soon as possible.
If you didn’t choose Meadowlands farm, have no fear. You can create blue grass starters and plant them on your farm to help your animals love you twice as fast.
2 Look Out For Coal Rocks
Coal is a really important resource, especially at the beginning of the game. It’s needed in multiple crafting recipes, including every copper, iron, and gold bar that you make. In the update, there’s a gray rock with black dots on it. This rock will give you multiple pieces of coal! You can find it in the mines and the quarry.
1 Don’t Cut Down The Blue Grass
If you start a new save with Meadowlands farm, you’ll have a coop surrounded by two types of grass, regular and blue grass. It’s tempting, especially since one of your first major tasks is to build a silo to cut down this grass for hay.
Don’t do it! If your farm animals eat it, it will boost their hearts two times as fast as regular grass.
