A Middletown man was killed and another seriously hurt when their fishing boat crashed on one of the Finger Lakes on Friday afternoon.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s office said Christopher Wade, 50, and Jamar Lindo, 28, both of Middletown, were in a 19-foot aluminum fishing boat on Cayuga Lake for most of the day. At some point, the boat crashed into a railroad bridge, and the impact threw Wade into the water, the sheriff’s office said.
Wade was later pulled from the water by rescue personnel and taken by an ambulance to Auburn Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Lindo was found in the boat with serious injuries. He was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was listed in serious condition.
The sheriff’s office said it was uncertain what time the crash occurred and who was operating the boat. They are asking anyone with information to contact them at 315-253-3902 or to leave an anonymous tip on their website, www.cayugasheriff.com.
